A Baby can easily swallow small objects or small pieces of food which can then block their airways....Choking is a common cause of injury and death in young children , primarily because their small airways are easily obstructed. It takes time for babies to master the ability to chew & swallow food.
Babies might not be able to cough forcefully enough to dislodge an airway obstruction.
So What to do now......?????
Don't worry now follow these steps...
- Hold the baby
- Place their face down on your knees or over your forearm
- Head pointing downward
- Give 5 Back Blows
- Check the mouth
- If this is unsuccessful then
- Turn the baby over
- Give 5 Chest Thrusts
- Check the mouth
- If this doesn't work then
- Repeat the Cycle 3 time by 5 Back blows and 5 Chest thrusts.
- So that the obstruction gets clear
- If still the obstruction is not clear then
- Call the Emergency Services.
