SELF CHOKING

If you are Choking and starting to suffocate but there's no one around to help you...
So don't worry..!!!

"You can save your own life"

"Helping Yourself"

Follow the simple steps to get rid of it...
  • Start coughing
  • If it doesn't work then
  • Perform Heimlich Maneuver on yourself by 5 Back Blows and 5 Abdominal Thrusts
To do this , make a fist & hit yourself in the area between your belly button and the lower ribs.

Drive your fist up & down in J-shaped motion.
IF it doesn't help either , Bend over a chair, corner of a table or any other solid object at waist level.

Push against it as hard as you can , keeping your arms stretched out in front of you.
Do this untill the object becomes dislodged and the airways gets clear...

"PRECAUTIONS"

  • Try not to Panic because the more you panic , the more air enter the mouth which pushes the stuck piece of food further in...
  • Don't stand up straight or hit yourself on the chest.

INFANT CHOKING

A Baby can easily swallow small objects or small pieces of food which can then block their airways....
Choking is a common cause of injury and death in young children , primarily because their small airways are easily obstructed. It takes time for babies to master the ability to chew & swallow food.
Babies might not be able to cough forcefully enough to dislodge an airway obstruction.

Don't worry now follow these steps...

  • Hold the baby

  • If this is unsuccessful then
  • Turn the baby over
  • Give 5 Chest Thrusts
  • Check the mouth
  • If this doesn't work then
  • Repeat the Cycle 3 time by 5 Back blows and 5 Chest thrusts.

ADULT CHOKING

Choking is a life threatening situation due to the blockage of air passage into the lungs after the inhalation or ingestion of food or another object.
Choking is caused by mechanical obstruction of the airways that prevents normal breathing. This obstruction can be partial or complete.

  •   Usually choking in small children is caused by small foreign object.
  •  Whereas in adults it's most commonly caused by food.

  • If the blockage is mild , the casuality should be able to clear by Coughing.
Food that can adapt their shape to that of pharynx such as banana, marshmallows or gelatinous candies can be a danger and can cause Choking.

 Signs and Symptoms

     So what to do now....?????????

  " Repeat the Cycle"

  •  Repeat 5 Back Blows
  •  Repeat 5 Abdominal Thrusts
  • If within the 3 cycles the obstruction isn't clear.
  • Then call for an ambulance.
  • Continue to repeat the cycle untill the blockage clears or the help arrives.

CPR

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies, including a heart attack or near drowning, in which someone's breathing or heartbeat has stopped.

CPR keeps oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs untill more definitive medical treatment can restore a normal limits.
It improves Circulation which means the flow of blood around the body. when the heart stops pumping we need to take over this situation by pushing hard and fast on the chest.

CPR can keep the oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs untill more definitive medical treatment can restore the normal limits.

So Remember one thing " It's far better to do something than to do nothing at all"

Remeber the difference between your doing something and doing nothing could be SOMEONE'S LIFE.

. Start by placing the heal of one hand at the centre of person's chest and interlock your fingers like this.

. With arms straightened , press Hard and Fast letting the chest backup fully each time.
"FAST means around 2 times every second"
And
"HARD means the chest needs to go down by 5cm."

So you need to push hard to be effective.
. If you are trained you can give 2 rescue breaths after every 30 compressions as this help provides oxygen.

However if yourn't trained then just keep going hands on your compressions on the chest.
. If Someone else is with you; you can also swap over the compressions; but don't stop untill health professional arrives or the patient starts to breath.

Hope so this will be very helpful for all because it's really important know how to react in the emergency ; not to panic and save someone's life....
